The Oconee Enterprise, judged consistently as a top weekly newspaper in Georgia, has an opening for an advertising director. 

We are looking for a competitive yet affable and trustworthy sales executive to develop relationships with local business owners, nonprofits and individuals in Oconee and surrounding counties. 

This position requires exceptional communication, presentation and organizational skills, self-motivation and a strong customer service background. Experience in outside sales is preferred. Knowledge of print and digital advertising sales is helpful, but not necessary. 

At 142 years old, The Enterprise is a trusted and esteemed legacy brand that continues to innovate and offer the latest in print and digital advertising solutions. 

The Enterprise offers a variety of paid advertising in both print and digital formats, and the advertising director will be responsible for generating new ideas on how to foster community connection while also generating revenue for the newspaper. This position will include a base salary and 15% commission on every ad sold. 

Job duties are as follows: 

  • Coordinate ad sales for our weekly newspaper and quarterly magazine and other digital platforms. 
  • Recruit new advertisers and maintain current advertisers by engaging with the community.
  • Design and distribute regular advertising emails informing advertisers of rates, upcoming publications, and new opportunities to publicize the business or organization.
  • Assist advertisers with copy, design and layout of ads, including writing, taking photos, and coordinating with graphic designers as needed.
  • Maintain a yearly calendar of special sections and publication dates. 
  • Represent The Oconee Enterprise in the community by attending ribbon cuttings, customer appreciation days, networking events and other events hosted by local organizations and the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce.
