The Rome News-Tribune, a five-day print and 24/7 online publication serving the city of Rome and Floyd County in northwest Georgia, is filling the position of Executive Editor. This is a hands-on position where the editor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of a seven-member newsroom. The editor works with staff to plan, produce and edit the news, sports and feature content of the paper and a quarterly magazine. Duties include reporting, writing, taking photos, assigning stories and overseeing the posting of content online and on social media. No pagination of news pages is required. 

The Executive Editor is responsible for office operations, fields and mediates calls from the public, meets with politicians and various community members and handles personnel issues

The Executive Editor manages the newsroom staff, freelancers and local columnists to coordinate assignments and to plan content. The editor makes sure stories and breaking news are posted to the online edition.

The Executive Editor serves as the “face” of the paper in the Rome and Floyd County communities.

The Executive Editor also guides and assists editors at four other TJI publications in northwest Georgia.

Previous management experience in a publication environment is preferred.
